Miles Adridge's Exhibiton in London Is Full of Popping Colors

The Hamiltons Gallery in London opened a powerful Miles Aldridge Exhibition this month. As they say, the new Doll Face series is "stupendously glossy and magnetically vibrant world with ultra slick, hyper-lit models and signature acid tones."

Aldridge is magnificently artificial. He is one of those artist not afraid of imposing his vision onto, well, everything. His erotic style has drawn comparison to Bergman, Dali, David Lynch, Hitchcock and Godard. And I would definitely say Guy Bourdin.

"If the world were pretty enough, I’d shoot on location all the time," the artist says. "But the world is just not being designed with aesthetics as a priority. So I prefer to rebuild it instead of photographing the real one. What I’m trying to do is take something from real life and reconstruct it in a cinematic way."

He works in a post surrealist world where everything is possible and everything is ultimately real. Therefore he mixes not only colors and people and objects in his art, but also design, commerce and fashion all in one.
