Doll by Ionna Vautrin Pays Tribute to Japanese Culture

Doll by Ionna Vautrin, a designer based in Paris, France, is a simple light fixture that was inspired by the traditional Japanese doll known as kokeshi. Although there is but a shadow of resemblance between this lamp and those figurines, the cylindrical body and bulbous head of the light does offer a similar silhouette. Also, the kokeshi figurine is handmade from wood, which is translated in the modern materials of the lamp.

Crossed with the aesthetic of the typical oil lamp, Doll by Ionna Vautrin is made out of polycarbonate, ABS and blown-glass. In line with the French designer's past creations including the Lexon Mezzo Radio and especially the Binic Lamp, it is rife with cute character. It was made for Foscarini.
