Digital Database Thngs Ensures Physical Objects Aren't Forgotten

This Russian startup is trying to catalogue designed objects in a digital database. Described by Springwise as a "Wikipedia for physical objects," Thngs is a repository for a variety of items including high quality images and rich descriptions. The idea is this gives modern things a way to live on when they no longer exist.

An appreciation of design has resulted in an overwhelming problem for museums, which are incapable of collecting, archiving and categorizing such a volume of objects. The digital database also produces shows, or a way to showcase curated collections online. Thngs has partnered with two Moscow-based museums as well as Getty Images. Described by CEO and co-founder Dima Dewinn as "a Noah's ark for the material world," the project makes it easy to discover, share and save information about different objects with a digital experience that mimics the physical representation in 360.
