Giopato & Coombes Designs the Dewdrops Lighting System

Italian design studio Giopato & Coombes recently introduced its 'Dewdrops' lighting system at the Maison & Objet show in Paris this year. This launch marks its 5th lighting feature -- Dewdrops is a sculptural lighting system that is designed to represent a mobile that is made up of sphere shapes ascending from a brass bar. The spheres are constructed carefully using glass, formed using handblown methods.

These are referred to as the 'blossoms' and it evokes light through its translucent structure to come together as an effortless silhouette. It is inspired by the designer's summertime walks, highlighting the light dewdrops that rest of the grass, illuminating as the moonlight reflects on it at night. The Dewdrops lighting system is offered in two iterations -- a 5 glass or 7 glass drops, all of which are constructed using borosilicate class as the blossoms and turned brass for the bars.
