Car Wash-Inspired Lighting

Dervish Ceiling Fan Lamp by Philippe Malouin

Inspired by an automatic car wash, designer Philippe Malourin came up with his ‘Dervish Lamp.’ Malourin combined car wash brushes with a ceiling fan lamp to create a spinning work that evokes the Turkish trance dancers known as ‘whirling dervish.’

One may be left to wonder if this lamp might not make a nice washing device for the balding head. Philippe Malouin has studied design in Montreal, Paris, and Amsterdam. The Italian review Abitare called him one of the five designers of the year in 2008 and had his first solo show in May 2009 at NextLevel Galerie in Paris.

The video above shows the lamp at about the 1:46 marker.
