Pao Hui Kao Launches a Capsule of Delicate Furniture Pieces

Because of an existing "sensitivity to chemicals and [a] desire to create recyclable products," designer Pao Hui Kao develops a delicate furniture line with tracing paper. The pieces are bound to one another with rice glue and the format includes stools coffee tables, shelving, a ceiling lamp, a space divider, and a dining table set.

The delicate furniture line requires the utmost precision and dexterity in order to be functional. For example, in order to allow the objects to bear weight, Pao Hui Kao creates a large number of irregular tubes of paper and binds them together. In addition, the designer's process allows her to "retain the wrinkles in the paper," making for a nice texture.
