Japanese Decochari Bike Photos By Satoshi Minakawa

They are crazy for decorating their bicycles in Japan with OTT lights and glitter to attract attention in the big city. The phenomenon is called Dekochari. "Deco" stands for decoration and "chari" is a slang word for bike. Fantastic.

These photographs by Satoshi Minakawa document the tradition brilliantly. I wonder if they are strictly within the health and safety regulations, but they look like fun. The last two pictures in the gallery show the grown up version of Dekochari, which is Dekotora - decorating huge trucks.

Wow, you guys can pimp my ride any time!
