Scientist Simon Park Turns Dead Bees into Glittering Gems

Sending them to a much better place, scientist Simon Park takes the found bodies of dead bees and turns them into beautiful blue crystals using the magic of lab experimentation.

Where have all the bees been disappearing to lately? Hopefully they are all turning into stunning jewels that can neither sting nor frighten innocent bystanders any more. Simon Park, however, wants to draw attention to the plight of the bees, drawing inspiration from The Crystal World by JG Ballard where chemical substances turn everything they touch into sparkling crystals.

Calling his project Bee-Jewelled, the scientist turned artist uses a concentration of copper sulphate to coat the bodies of the dead bees and turn them into mystifying blue trinkets that wouldn't be so bothersome at a summer picnic.
