‘Dancing Dragons’ is a Gigantic Transparent Building

The latest of fifteen skyscrapers commissioned for the Yongsan International Business District are the ‘Dancing Dragons’ by Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill Architecture. The Chicago-based firm is set to build a pair of 450 meter-high Dancing Dragon towers, complete with glimmering glass scales. The scales on each tower are meant to resemble the scales of a mystical dragon.

Although these sky-scraping structures have yet to be built, their proposed location is a gold-mine and fitting for these architectural triumphs. The towers will be positioned beside each other in the fast-growing business and commercial district in Seoul, South Korea. In a design similar to the Petronas Towers in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, the towers will have a joint supportive central core, as well as a series of wings on the sides.

After completion, the towers will hold offices, apartments, hotels and shops that span over a total of 88 floors. These towers will be due for completion in 2024.
