Although I love the look of the CTRLZAK D\ZEN furniture piece, I can't help but love what inspired it even more. Long story short, the inspiration for this project came when designers Thanos Zakopoulos and Katia Meneghini discovered something strange on a mountain near a Buddist temple -- boulders supported by tiny sticks.
As Design Milk so adequately puts it, "The idea behind the [CTRLZAK D\ZEN] furniture is that the stick is man’s little touch, which supports nature but reminds us that everything is temporary." A beautiful sentiment, it is echoed in the stunning simplicity of the CTRLZAK D\ZEN project itself. A bench, table or stool, these versatile pieces of furniture hold a zen-like metaphor for our relationship with this world.
