Tournament-Style Dating Apps

The Crown App Presents Potential Mates in a Bracket-Style Tournament

Dating apps like Tinder have already slightly gamified the dating experience but the Crown app is taking it further by allowing users to eliminate potential mates in a tournament-style bracket. The app comes courtesy of the Match Group -- the same company behind Tinder and OkCupid -- and is proudly touting its ability to offer up less swiping and more fun. Unlike Tinder, which provides an endless roster of potential mates, the Crown app presents a curated list on a daily basis with users deciding who they eventually want to chat with.

Users will be presented with potential partners each day at noon, with the 16 candidates being selected by a proprietary algorithm. When the "Final Four" matches have been decided they will be notified of a users interest in them and can elect to send a message or to pass. According to Andy Chen, Vice President of Match Group, the process of elimination "helps users choose between quality over quantity."
