The Croissant App Uses Beacons to Book Co-Working or Coffee Shop Spaces

At this year's TechCrunch Disrupy NY Hackathon, one team developed Croissant, an app to help local businesses temporarily rent out spaces for working to customers. Since there are people who go to coffee shops with the intention of working and only lay down enough money for a single beverage, Croissant aims to make it easier for businesses to profit from mobile workers.

With the use of beacon technology, customers are able to automatically check in to a location upon arrival. Once a spot has been claimed, a customer can expect to pay based on the time spent at the venue, using funds taken straight from a credit card. From the Croissant app, it's also possible to make food and drink orders, which also compensates the business. Businesses are able to see a real-time map of users in-house, so that renting out space temporarily can become extremely profitable.

The team behind the development of Croissant includes Dave Idell, Adam Chew and Nisha Garigan, the three co-founders of deal startup Perqy.
