Melting Ice Cream Timelapses

The 'Creamlapse' Timelapse Shows

Creamlapse is a time-lapse video that shows an assortment of cream treats melting away. Aside from inducing severe ice cream cravings, the video also functions as a comment on the temporal nature of life.

Creamlapse was put together by Sevilla, Spain-based artist Mateo Cabeza. Cabeza took over 3,500 photos of different varieties of melting ice cream. His video utilizes a special hyper-lapse technique that takes continuous photos with a Canon 5D camera and then combines them to show a moving picture.

The protagonists in the video include an ice cream cone, a popsicle, an ice cream cake, a Frigo Pie and ice cream sandwiches slowly melting away, all set to the tune of Bobby Vinton's song 'Mr. Lonely'.

Cabeza says the film is about the contrast between the happiness represented by ice cream and the sadness as it melts away before being eaten. It is also a representation of life and the influence of time on life.
