TN Marketing's Craft & Hobby Partners with Minitex

TN Marketing's library-exclusive streaming platform, Craft & Hobby, has entered into a multi-year partnership with Minitex, the resource-sharing program of the Minnesota Office of Higher Education and the University of Minnesota Libraries. The goal of this venture is to provide statewide access to its extensive catalogue of creative tutorials for public, academic, and school libraries across Minnesota and North Dakota beginning in July 2026.

The agreement between Craft & Hobby and Minitex enables library patrons, students, and educators to access over 4,000 hours of expert-led video instruction spanning more than 20 creative disciplines, including knitting, crochet, painting, photography, cooking, woodworking, and sewing. All of these are available on-demand for self-paced learning or integration into structured library programming.

Craft & Hobby, which is specifically designed to meet the needs of library systems and educators as opposed to the company's direct-to-consumer offerings, supports both independent exploration and group workshops.

Trend Themes

  1. Library-gated Streaming — Exclusive digital content platforms tailored for library access create room for subscription models that serve communities through institutions rather than individual consumers.
  2. On-demand Creative Learning — Self-paced video instruction across hands-on disciplines expands informal education into scalable digital experiences for patrons, students, and educators.
  3. Institutional Content Partnerships — Multi-year agreements between content providers and public education networks highlight new distribution pathways for specialized learning libraries.

Industry Implications

  1. Public Libraries — Digital tutorial platforms strengthen libraries as hybrid learning hubs that combine on-demand access with in-person programming.
  2. Edtech — Institution-focused streaming tools introduce alternatives to consumer learning apps by aligning content delivery with schools, libraries, and resource-sharing systems.
  3. Arts and Crafts — Expert-led creative instruction gains broader reach when craft education is packaged for community-wide access through trusted public institutions.
