This Cozy Lakeside Cabin Enhances Family Time

Designed in a way to encourage social interaction on family trips instead of personal seclusion, this cozy lakeside cabin is the perfect getaway for bonding.

Created for a family that likes to spend the holidays close to the forest, this cozy lakeside cabin by Finnish architect Tuukka Vuori, from design firm Playa Architects, is a rustic haven.

Located in Finland, this 122-square-metre woodland cabin focuses on the living and dining room instead of the bedrooms -- the family area takes up around half of the house's floorspace. Built right on the edge of a lake in Hirvensalmi, the Birch-clad house is inspired by the family's Scandinavian heritage. Using a bevy of different textures for the interior walls and ceilings, the house is made using birch, alder and pine from the family's own sawmill.
