J. Purdy & Sons Guns

Two rare and very fancy shotguns are the show pieces for Christie's Gun and Rifle sale in London. The 12 gauge shotguns are from fine gunsmiths J. Purdey & Sons. The British-made shotguns are loaded with gold embellishments which do absolutely nothing for the accuracy of the gun.

This pair of shotguns was inspired by Ken Hunt’s study of arms in the Wallace Collection housed in the Tower of London. J. Purdey & Sons is the preferred gun maker for the royal family. Queen Victoria purchased a set of guns from them in 1838.
