CONTRIBUTIONS Festival #2 is a design exhibition organized by the nonprofit group CONTRIBUTIONS and founded by design consultants Anna Caradeuc and Élise Daunay that pairs physical objects with musical compositions in public spaces across Paris. The festival challenges the traditional silent presentation of design by commissioning musicians to create soundscapes in response to exhibited works.
The installations include sculptural furniture pieces by Emily Thurman equipped with bells that resonate during use, with music composed by Kevin Morby responding to these sonic elements. Paris-based jeweler Zoé Mohm contributed to the strung bells used in Thurman’s work. Other pairings within the festival bring together translucent parchment works by Pauline Esparon and ceramic sculptures by Juliette Teste, accompanied by an original soundscape by Michelle Blades. Lagos designer Nifemi Marcus-Bello’s M2 Shelf is exhibited alongside furniture by Thomas Morineau Barthelemy with a Brazilian soundtrack composed by Rodrigo Amarante.
