Inclusive Gaming Messaging Features

Microsoft is Testing Content Filters for Messages on Xbox

Microsoft has begun testing content filters for messages on the Xbox platform. The new content filters are being tested in order to make the gaming experience more inclusive for all users. Xbox Insiders are now able to choose between four different filters that will automatically block any potentially offensive messages received on the platform.

The four different content filters are friendly, medium, mature and unfiltered. Friendly settings will be the default settings for all children accounts, however, the settings are able to be changed at any time. The medium filter will block messages that are discriminatory but will allow some negative messages. The mature filter will only hide messages that are offensive. Lastly, the unfiltered setting will allow all messages to be seen.

After testing the content filters amongst Xbox Insider users, Microsoft has stated that it plans to roll the feature out to all Xbox users in the fall.
