The Connacht Distillery Has Released Its Flagship Single Malt Whiskey

Irish spirit maker The Connacht Distillery has unveiled its flagship single malt whiskey, a one-of-kind spirit that, according to the company, is the first to be distilled in Mayo County, Ireland in over 150 years. This new premium spirit is the first whiskey product to be offered by the company, which finished the construction of its distillery in Ballina in 2015.

Since 2015, Connacht has produced an Irish gin, 'Straw Boys' vodka, and a few other spirit-based products, all of which were released as the company waited for its signature whiskey to age. "The launch of our first whiskey marks an exciting new chapter for the Connacht Distillery," said Killian O’Sullivan, commercial director for Connacht.

Made from 100% malted Irish barley and aged in ex-bourbon barrels, this Irish whiskey is said to offer notes of raisins, honey, and almond, while its palate conjures the flavors of vanilla, spices, and dried fruit.
