'ASYLYM' is a colorful swimming pool located on the site of the former New York City Lunatic Asylum. Although Roosevelt Island is now a residential area, the island was formerly know as a place of isolation and quarantine. In total, 130 gallons of paint were required to completely cover the pool. The visually striking design serves as an interesting contrast to the history of the former New York City Lunatic Asylum.
