The OpenAI Codex Micro has been created through a collaboration with Work Louder as a peripheral for agentic workflows to help users maintain agile access to their agents via a dedicated command center. The peripheral features an industrial design that has six frosted keys accented by LEDs that will visually communicate agent status to the user to help them work in the background. The peripheral has a dial for adjusting the Codex reasoning level and a joystick for transitioning between different Codex workflows.
The OpenAI Codex Micro will connect to computers via a wireless or physical connection and also offers dedicated buttons for accepting or denying changes and more. The peripheral is available now for order for $230 but is limited in quantity.

Trend Themes
-
Agentic Workflow Hardware — Dedicated desktop peripherals create new value by turning background AI agents into tactile, always-accessible productivity systems for professional users.
-
Ambient AI Status Interfaces — LEDs, dials, and compact controls expand the role of physical design in making autonomous software activity visible, legible, and easier to supervise.
-
Reasoning-level Controls — Manual adjustment of AI reasoning intensity introduces a more nuanced interface layer for balancing speed, cost, accuracy, and task complexity.
Industry Implications
-
Computer Peripherals — Specialized keyboards and control pads reflect a shift from generic input devices toward AI-native hardware tailored to emerging agentic work habits.
-
Artificial Intelligence Software — Physical command centers strengthen the connection between AI platforms and everyday workflows by giving users faster ways to direct, approve, and monitor agents.
-
Workplace Productivity — Hybrid software-hardware tools reshape professional efficiency by embedding autonomous assistance into the physical workspace rather than keeping it confined to screens.
