Drone-Created QR Codes

Bilibili Used Over 1,500 Drones to Make a Scannable Code in the Sky

To mark the first anniversary of its Princess Connect! game, Bilibili flew more than 1,500 drones over Shanghai to create a QR code in the sky. The spectacle started out by having the drones perform a live RPG battle and telling the story of a brave trio that teamed up to take down an evil dragon.

The "credits" for the drone performance provided a reason for people to keep watching, as the drones flew into the formation of a giant QR code. The scannable QR code gave mobile device users the chance to be taken directly to the download page for the game.

While QR codes are commonly integrated into product packaging and promotional materials, this piqued interest from gamers and curious individuals alike.
