Cocooned Airport Terminals

Heydar Aliyev International Airport Terminal by Autoban is Cultural

The cocooned airport terminal of Heydar Aliyev provide a welcoming environment that will make people feel as though they have already begun sightseeing. Whether leaving on a trip or just arriving, the monumental space has been filled with sculptural structures that will awe many, if not all. It is only appropriate that the design was inspired by Azerbaijani hospitality, providing people with places to meet or retreat as desired.

Designed by Autoban, the cocooned airport terminal was awarded a Red Dot for its use of narrative and unconventional forms. Although the overall ambiance is open, airy and modern, it is stepped in tradition and culture. The cocoons themselves vary in size and house an array of cafes, kiosks and other amenities.
