The Clock-Parasol Makes for an Inventive Hybrid

This Clock-Parasol from Japanese designer Kota Nezu serves as an smart way to solve a common problem. Most of us wear our watches on the same hand we use to carry our umbrella with, meaning if you want to check the time, you have to pull your umbrella down to look at your watch hand, leaving your head and body exposed to the elements.

But, with this inventive Clock-Parasol, which includes a sun dial printed on its bottom surface, all one has to do is point their umbrella into a sunny spot and look up to get a shadowy reading of the time. And, since the umbrella's handle comes with a mounted compass to find magnetic north, getting accurate readings should be relatively simple. Just make sure you're not trying to use this feature on cloudy days. Of course, then you could always use the Clock-Parasol for its other purpose, weather protection.Photo Credits: designboom, designboom
