Davide Trabucco's 'Confórmi' Series Mixes Classical and Contemporary Art

Artist Davide Trabucco revealed his latest line of work which brilliantly mixes classical and contemporary art. The series is titled 'Confórmi' and features classical art pieces sliced diagonally in half and juxtaposed with contemporary art counterparts.

Trabucco began his new series as a way to manage his visual references. After coming across old and new images that boast a similar aesthetic, the Italian artist started the Confórmi series. In most of the images, contemporary art pieces are contrasted with a classic painting, piece of architecture or sculpture.

The series includes classical and contemporary art mashups such as a Dolce & Gabbana ad with an ancient Hellenic sculpture as well as a still of Darth Vader from 'Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope' where the Sith Lord's lightsaber seamlessly becomes a glowing Dan Flavin piece.
