Beverly Hills is Opting for Autonomous City Vehicles for Communal Use

Beverly Hills is exploring new transit options with the help of self-driving cars that the board is hoping to purchase dozens of to provide as communal city vehicles. The cars will be autonomous and will act as a personal and modern mode of transportation.

The city is putting together the self-driving system spearheaded by Mayor John Mirisch as a way to provide citizens more opportunity to travel in a way that is safe as well as more personalized, allowing consumers to move to and from locations on their own accord and schedules. The cars will be available on-demand and provide service to a 5.7-mile radius inside the city to consumers to use. The cars will run on communication controlled through optic fibre cables for seamless driving.
