Corona Revealed Circular Packaging with Surplus Barley Straw

This Corona circular packaging has been revealed by the brand as the first of its kind from a global brand that makes use of the technology developed at AB InBev's Global Innovation and Technology Centre (GITEC). The packaging is achieved with barley straw that has been combined with recycled wood fibers to form a paper board that is just as strong and durable as existing alternatives. The packaging is reported to use 90% less water in its production than traditional wood and also uses less energy as well as fewer harsh chemicals.

Director of Packaging Innovation at AB InBev Keenan Thompson spoke on the new Corona circular packaging saying, "We’re excited to finally launch this new packaging innovation we’ve been developing over the past three years. At AB InBev we are continually pushing boundaries by developing scalable solutions. Today is a proud moment for us, not only are we providing an opportunity for farmers but we’re also delivering a more mindful solution to the consumer."
