The Naturbad Riehen is a chlorine-free swimming pool located in Riehen, a town of about 20,000 people located in Switzerland. When you think swimming pools, one of the first things that comes to mind is the whiff of chlorine. Chlorine does help kill bacteria, but it is still a chemical so alternatives are always welcome.
The pool uses a biological filter to filter out germs without giving swimmers skin irritation and those annoying itchy red eyes.
This chlorine-free pool was designed by Swiss architects Herzog & de Meuron, and is intended to accommodate Riehen's families while blending in seamlessly with the surrounding greenery and landscape. The facility will include a wading pool for toddlers, a lap pool and a pool with a sloping gravel beach. Wooden decks and grass provides spaces for relaxation outside the pool.
