Minimalist Chinese Zodiac Designs

Camille Henrot Branches Out with a First Ever Fashion Collection

French artist Camille Henrot works in many different mediums, including sculptures, installations, and illustrations, but her most recent endeavor has the creative extending her famous Chinese zodiac designs to the fashion industry.

The New York-based artist's clothing collection features Chinese zodiac animals "in positions of distress and submission." The multi-colored designs are embroidered onto silk jackets, hoodies and cashmere scarves provided by Parenti's.

The Chinese zodiac designs are not only fun to explore and style, but they are a continuation of Henrot's perspective on astrology as a "dynamic of excess and absurdity." For example, one of the illustrations boasts a horse, meeting a wall headfirst — a definite ode to impulsive behavior and reaping the consequences of it.

Camille Henrot's first ever fashion collection will be available at Frieze New York in early May.
