Star Struck Car Ads

This Chinese Car Company Ad Shows off Nicolas Cage's Road Rage

Chinese car company BAIC Motor Corporation signed Nicolas Cage to be its brand ambassador for its new Senova D-Series. Its commercial features Cage furiously racing in a Senova car, tilting on two wheels and getting out of the car seemingly angry.

The commercial is not anything unforeseen. The Academy Award winner enacts a snippet of a dangerous action film; something a lot of men would find totally cool. The 49-year-old star is a fitting candidate for targeting the older male demographic. Through Cage's acting, BAIC effectively implies what is being sold here: the car as well as the charisma.

Caucasian celebrity endorsement plays a substantial part in the Asian advertising industry. Cage is not the first to endorse overseas. Brad Pitt and soccer star Lionel Messi have also promoted for Chinese automobiles.
