Italian-born artist Dan Bannino's chicken photography project captures a select species of exotic birds bred by Andrea Pozzato in Padua.
With the elaborate feathers on top of their heads, combined with Dan Bannino's retro lighting techniques, the birds look less like poultry than they do members of an 80s hair band. In order to capture the birds this way, Dan Bannino uses a lighting technique known as chiaroscuro -- meaning that he plays with light and shadow for specific contrasting effects. The chicken photography project, titled 'Chic Chicks,' focuses intently on the faces and feathers of each bird, complemented by the neon lights that give the interesting species a retro look.
