Dewar's Blended Scotch Whisky Boasts the Champions Edition

Dewar's Blended Scotch Whisky has launched the sixth edition of its Champions Edition 19 Year Old expression. This limited release is crafted to commemorate the 126th U.S. Open Championship taking place at Shinnecock Hills Golf Club.

The Champions Edition 19 Year Old expression continues the brand's tradition of innovative cask finishes inspired by the championship's host location. Dewar's whisky received a secondary maturation in Cabernet Franc red wine casks sourced from Wölffer Estate, a renowned winery located on Long Island's South Fork. The master blender, Stephanie Macleod, who has been recognized as Master Blender of the Year on multiple occasions, created this expression by first aging a selection of up to 40 single malt and grain whiskies for 19 years in ex-bourbon and sherry casks, followed by harmonization in refill oak, before the final finishing in the wine barrels from Southampton.

Trend Themes

  1. Tournament-tied Spirits — Limited-edition alcohol releases connected to major sporting events create collectible products that merge fandom, premiumization, and occasion-based purchasing.
  2. Regional Cask Collaborations — Local winery and distillery partnerships introduce distinctive flavor profiles while giving heritage spirits a stronger sense of place and provenance.
  3. Luxury Sports Collectibles — Premium beverages designed around championship moments expand memorabilia culture into consumable goods with scarcity-driven appeal.

Industry Implications

  3. Wine and Spirits Retail — Exclusive commemorative bottles support higher-margin retail moments by blending collectible packaging, local sourcing narratives, and premium gifting demand.
