This Video Takes a Look at Wes Anderson’s Centered State of Mind

Filmmaker Wes Anderson enjoys symmetry so much that almost all of his films feature a centered state of mind: Almost each frame could be symmetrically divided. Vimeo user Kogonada has taken several clips from Anderson’s films and he has inserted a simple dotted line in the center of each frame to showcase his obsession with the middle of the frame.

Anderson is known for his stylized color palettes and people have been noticing the centered state of mind that he has in his frames. The supercut video includes clips from Rushmore, The Royal Tenenbaums and The Grand Budapest Hotel. He also includes his stop-motion film The Fantastic Mr. Fox.

No matter what, the perspective will always settle back to the center of the image or shot. Personally, I don’t think I would have noticed his obsession if the dotted lines were taken away.
