'Cellar Bar' Restored an Abandoned Structure and Has a New Extension

'Cellar Bar' is a unique oceanside restaurant that utilizes an old refurbished structure and a contemporary extension. Oftentimes, when old buildings are restored, an extension is built to carry on the same rustic aesthetic. Cellar Bar, however, abandoned this notion, and built an extremely eye-catching add-on.

The original structure was in rough shape so architects decided to restore the essential elements like doors, walls and the roof, and completely redesign the interior. The now open space acts as one room of the dual-building restaurant, outfitted with traditionally exposed stone walls. Cellar Bar's modern extension takes inspiration from the surrounding rocks and boulders and was designed in a sculptural manner. The bright wooden extension was built around the existing structure, which explains its odd curved shape.
