The Cat Facts App Will Bombard Your Friends

The Cat Facts app has turned the infamous Reddit prank (it's the eighth most popular post on the site) into an app that will annoy even your most cat-obsessed friends.

For those who missed it, the prank involved a unsuspecting kid who posted his cellphone number to Facebook. His older cousin took advantage of the opportunity, posing as an "automated service" that sends cat facts (such as "Did you know that the first cat show was held in 1871 at the Crystal Palace in London? Mee-wow!") every hour upon the hour.

Now, you can recreate the hilarious prank in the form of a mobile app that will send similarly annoying texts to your friends. The app's creator Kyle Venn explains, "I never had any intention of actually releasing it to the App Store and did it mostly to get better as a developer [...] After rewriting it a few times and making it look a little prettier, I figured it could be something that other people on the Internet might enjoy." Amen to that!
