The Cary Kwok exhibition at Sessions Arts Club introduces four new paintings by Cary Kwok, developed with support from Herald St, Cabin Studio, Jonny Gent, and David Southard. The works are rendered in acrylic and ink on paper, focusing on still lifes, silhouettes, and staged interiors. Each composition draws from 1980s visual culture, referencing interior design, cinematography, fashion editorials, and advertising. The series includes pieces such as Eclipse (2026), which depicts a partially obscured figure styled with period details, and Anticipation (2026), centred on a vintage landline telephone.
Additional works explore symbolic objects and fragmented figures, including a rose placed in a glass of rosé wine and a close-cropped torso revealed through fabric. The exhibition incorporates subtle embedded details, with the artist’s signature appearing within objects such as jewellery and glassware. The show is installed from May 18 and is viewable by appointment on Mondays or during dining hours at the venue. It is presented alongside a related wine label collaboration developed for the Sessions Arts Club Lost Wines Project.
