Voter-Encouraging Carpool Apps

This App Helps People Carpool to Voting Booths

Nicole Meri, a student at Charlotte's Northeastern University, has devised an innovative new carpool app that is designed to use the convenience of carpooling to get more people out to the voting booths to cast their vote for the U.S. presidential election.

The app, which is available for free download through both the iOS and Android platforms, allows drivers and car-owners to publish their trip as well as information about available seats, in order to enable them to pick up passengers. Passengers can in turn view carpool opportunities on the map and request to be picked up. Security is heightened by the use of a barcode system that is used to verify carpool legitimacy.

It's not uncommon for people to refrain from voting because of a lack of transportation options, but this carpool app helps get rid of that problem and help people exercise their democratic responsibility.
