CandyKing CoLab has been announced by the Swedish pick and mix candy brand as its latest innovation that gets consumers involved in the product development process. The initiative will see pick and mix candies that are inspired by the feedback from shoppers who can have their say on the kinds of flavor combinations they want to see, textures and colors. The initiative is being launched with a new sour wine gum that will be produced in either a Cola-Strawberry or Raspberry-Grapefruit flavor with consumers able to vote online now through February 25, 2026.
Global Director spoke on CandyKing CoLab saying, "Evolving our assortment to match our consumers’ taste preferences has always been at the core of the CandyKing experience. CandyKing CoLab brings our fans into the heart of the creation process, helping us decide which flavors and textures deserve a spot in the mix. It’s all about building the future CandyKing assortment together."

Trend Themes
1. Consumer-created Products - A shift toward products designed directly by shoppers creates opportunities for brands to offer highly personalized assortments driven by real-time community input.
2. Crowd-sourced Flavor Design - Leveraging mass consumer feedback to determine flavor pairings and textures enables rapid iteration of niche SKUs that would be too risky under traditional R&D models.
3. Interactive Product Voting - Public voting mechanisms introduce transparent demand signals that can shorten product-development cycles and align launches with demonstrable consumer preference.
Industry Implications
1. Confectionery Retail - Retailers that integrate fan-driven assortments can differentiate shelf experiences with rotating, limited-run mixes that boost visit frequency and social sharing.
2. Food Manufacturing - Manufacturers able to modularize production for small-batch, consumer-selected recipes could capture premium margins from co-created specialty lines.
3. Digital Consumer Platforms - Platforms that facilitate voting, community ideation, and analytics could become critical intermediaries by aggregating preference data and enabling brand-consumer collaboration.
