C+ Architects, a Chinese firm, included its 'Stair Pavilion' at Beijing Design Week. Looking to change narrow alley ways in the northern districts of China into functional areas that streamline communication, C+ Architects sought to create something that found serve a sort of communal living space.
It works by taking the surface of the ground up a few levels so that those inhabiting the area can sit atop of it and look at the rest of their immediate community -- helping to facilitate a stronger bond by encouraging people to come together in a common space. In addition, C+ Architects claims that the Stair Pavilion might also function as an entertainment ground, where films and local performances could be featured.
