The Buoy Lamp by Sweden's TAF is Perfect for Modern Mariners

The Buoy Lamp is the latest dock-inspired illuminator from Swedish design firm TAF. The lamp was designed by Mattias Ståhlbom and gets its look from the buoys that are commonly seen hanging off the side of docked fishing boats.

The Buoy Lamp looks strikingly similar to the Fisherman Lamp created by TAF last year. That lamp, like this one, was created for the furniture brand Zero and was directly inspired by Scandinavian fishers. The lamp's design is on the minimalist side which is good. A lamp designed to look like a buoy could easily attract attention in all the wrong ways. Fortunately TAF went the minimalist route giving the Buoy Lamp just enough of a kick in the design and looks department to attract a wandering eye without offending it.
