Nendo's latest project is a wireless Bunaco speakers for the Aomori Prefecture-based label. The speakers take advantage of beechwood and its acoustic properties, using a thin coiled strip encased in a clear encasement. Aomori Prefecture in Japan has an plethora of beech trees and the design label took advantage by crafting products from it. The design wraps the thin coiled beechwood strip around a small speaker and placed in an acrylic cylinder.
The end of the coiled strip is designed to dangle in the middle of the speaker, shown through the transparent cylinder. The clear outer shows off the unique interior design and the speaker's structure as well. Beechwood is highly absorbent of sounds and Nendo took note of this in order to produce uniquely soft and clear tones.
