In a search for the best customized Panton chair, Vitra, UK, launched the British Panton Chair Competition. Architects and designers were asked to submit unique ideas for the iconic furniture. All entries were auctioned in July 2010 to benefit charity.
Verner Panton designed his signature one-piece cantilevered plastic chair in the 1960s. The Panton chair originally went into production in 1967. Today, chairs are injection-molded so are in good supply to the general public, and for entries into the British Panton Chair Competition.
