Construction for this marvelous Tank Street bridge is underway to accommodate the traffic in one of the fastest growing-urban regions in Australia. The pedestrian and bicycle bridge in Brisbane is appropriately located close to the city’s Gallery of Modern Art.
The structure will link the city center and south Brisbane, and expects to see about 53,000 users a week. The $63.3 million project is the work of Baulderstone, Cox Rayner Architects and ARUP Engineers. The overall design concept was to recall the jutting ropes and spars of sailing ships and boats, which it does rather well.
The Tank Street bridge is meant to be completed in time for Queensland’s 150th year anniversary. The bridge boasts two viewing platforms, two rest areas and a continuous all-weather canopy that extends the length of the bridge.
