Anna Dienemann's Bounding Spaces project introduces a collection of "size compressible accessories" that help to put space between the wearer and those in their immediate surroundings. Created for a 2020 graduation project for Design Academy Eindhoven, Bounding Spaces shares designs that neatly collapse to form vest- and skirt-like shapes around the body. Just as there are many animals that use bright colors to warn others to keep their distance, these pop-up structures incorporate vibrant tones.
The pandemic has inspired the creation of numerous clothing designs and accessories that help people claim their personal space and this one introduces a playful way to keep others distant. On social distancing, Dienemann says:
"I believe this will create a challenge for us to appropriately dress ourselves in public when being surrounded by many people."
