Support Women and Children with Special Needs Through Booteek.org

Booteek.org is a social enterprise hailing out of Sri Lanka that aims to help women and children with special needs by providing them with a place to learn skills such as crocheting and clothing design.

The items are created in the Chitra Lane Sheltered Workshop in Sri Lanka, which is a non-profit organization that works with special needs children and young adults and allows them to become more independent and self-sufficient. The Chitra Lane Sheltered Workshop also aids parents of special needs children in a variety of ways, the most notable of those being in the form of empowerment.

Working toward selling the products made in the school only through a special mail order catalogue, the Chitra Lane Sheltered Workshop launched Booteek.org as a way to reach a global audience.

All of the products purchased at booteek.org are made by hand by children and young adults with special needs and their parents, particularly mothers who either live with special needs themselves or who are caretakers to a child or children with special needs.

Much of the proceeds of the products sold on Booteek.org and made at the Chitra Lane Sheltered Workshop go to the school and workshop program itself, and often to the participating children and their families in order to allow them to lead a better life.

The Sri Lanka-based business is working toward a better future for its special needs youth and their families.
