Elevated Modular Roadways

BMW's New Roadway Concept Would Encourage Eco-Friendly Commuting

BMW's new roadway concept hopes to better utilize unused space, by creating a modular roadway that addresses issues of population density and urban infrastructure, while encouraging the use of more sustainable roadway vehicles.

To devise this idea, BMW collaborated with Tongji University in Shanghai, eventually creating a roadway concept that would offer city dwellers a more efficient and eco-friendly alternative. The proposed modular roadway, tentatively titled BMW Vision E³, would only be accessed by electric, two-wheeled vehicles. This roadway would provide a safer means of eco-conscious transportation, that doesn't put individuals in dangerous roadway situations.

In addition to the roadway, BMW is hoping to introduce branded electric two-wheeled vehicles, such as scooters and e-bikes, that would provide city-dwellers with a stylish and conscious alternative.
