Blood Bag Makeovers

Designer Ni-Hsin Chang Redesigns the Blood Bag

Blood is an incredibly important tool for saving lives, unfortunately as this blood bag concept by Ni-Hsin Chang shows, our current blood bags are in need of a redesign.

As Ni-Hsin Chang sees it, there a few minor but important flaws in the modern blood bag. The first issue is visibility, Chang's blood bags prominently displays the blood type in conjunction with a color coding system, furthermore grooves are below the label where the tubes can be wrapped around and thus avoid obstructing the labels. The arch design of the bag makes them easily stackable, and the concave surface of the bag makes them easy to grip. Lastly a low cost temperature sensor is attached to the blood bag to ensure it remains fresh during transportation.
