Blind photographer Pete Eckert has developed an incredible artistic medium in which he uses light art to alter existing photographs, giving viewers the ability to experience things from Eckert's perspective, even if briefly.
While Eckert appears to have adapted to his blindness remarkably while, he was not always blind, nor was he a photographer. When he was in art school, he was diagnosed with a degenerative disorder that eventually rendered him visionless. After having to deal with the emotional turmoil that comes along with a life-changing disease such as this, Eckert decided to pursue his love of art through photography. By using light art to blur photos and create otherworldly figures, Eckert creates photographs that emulate the way that he sometimes sees flashes of light and bright colors in the corners of his field of vision.
With these photographs, Eckert has proven that even the more debilitating disabilities can be overcome.
