Responsive Silicone Residences

The Birds Island Home is an Innovative Eco Architecture Proposal

Climate is one of the most important factors to consider when designing a building, and the Birds Island concept has been dreamed up for Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Because there isn't this need to to completely enclose a structure in order to offer sufficient shelter, the GRAFT architectural team thought about working on a permeable abode.

This abstract domicile would be swathed in a silicon glass skin that allows the interior to breathe. Set up on stilts, the Birds Island could draw air up from underneath for effective and efficient passive ventilation. The translucent nature of the material would also facilitate the penetration of the sun's beams with welcome diffusion and shading. Finally, floating solar lotuses would harness solar energy to enable a zero emissions house.
