Bio-Bean Turns Leftover Coffee Grounds Into Usable Biofuels

Bio-Bean is a London-based startup that is finding a revolutionary new use for coffee -- you've seen it used as a stimulant to get you going, a delicious flavoring to wake up your taste buds and even as an ingredient in cosmetics, but Bio-Bean is betting on its utility as a biofuel.

While the idea of using recycled coffee grounds to power vehicles is not entirely new, what's unique about Bio-Bean's venture is the fact that it plans to hugely scale up its system of recycling, processing and fueling for a large city (London).

The company collects coffee waste from coffee shops, offices, transportation facilities and industrial coffee factories -- it makes sense for these establishments as they can save on landfill fees by giving their leftover coffee grounds to Bio-Bean free of charge. For Bio-Bean, this means free raw material to be converted into biofuel.

This is one of those business ideas in which everyone wins. Bio-Bean has struck gold with this project, which allows for the creation of eco-friendly biofuel at a low cost to all concerned.
